Designed for first-generation and low-income college students, and students from groups underrepresented at the doctoral level, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program at California State University, San Bernardino encourages talented juniors and seniors to pursue the doctoral degree. Established and funded by the United States Department of Education, and named in honor of astronaut and Challenger space shuttle member Ronald E. McNair, the program encourages graduate studies by providing participants with a mentored research experience, seminars and workshops on topics germane to the pursuit of the doctoral degree, and opportunities to meet and work with role models who have obtained the terminal degree.
